Cast aluminum or cast iron outdoor patio furniture. ?
mesa tampo

I want to get a bistro set for our front courtyard and I don't know which material to pick. I heard cast aluminum is rust resistant and lasts longer. However, I live in a very windy area, and I am afraid it won't be heavy enough. There's too much concrete going on in that area, so I don't want concrete furniture, either. Any opinions or suggestions?

Aluminium is much lighter than cast iron, but you would still need hurricane force winds to shift it. As long as the base of the table is as wide as the top, you shouldn't have any problem with the wind tipping it over. The aluminum is also much easier to move around for rearranging.

What's wrong with my cockatiel?
painel 05

She is approx 14 mos. old & she has ben laying eggs (unfertilized) about every 2-3 days for the past 3 wks or so. She has the run of our caged in lanai, but lately she's been picking on my concrete wall & eating it as well as my painted aluminum outdoor furniture. I purchased a new cuttle bone for her thinking that maybe she needed calcium but she doesn't pay attention to it. She eats well (mostly cockatiel food) & I even boil her eggs which she loves to eat. Is this some kind of sympton or what? I'm worried that she'll get poisoned with the paint or metal. Has anyone experienced this with their bird before?

Also, don't take away the eggs that she is laying. She will continue to lay to replace the eggs. Let her sit on the eggs until she is done with them. This will take about 21 days, then and only then it is safe to throw the unfertalized eggs away.

She must not be allowed to chew on the things that you are describing. If she starts to act odd at all, rush her to the vet. She can get metal poisoning from the paint. Most paints have zinc in them that is toxic to our birds.

Start giving her dark leafy greens such as spinach, kale, dandilion, etc to help replace the calcium she is using to lay eggs.

Reduce the ammount of daylight she gets to 12 hours or less, this will help stop her egg laying cycle.

Keep an eye on her, if she becomes eggbound she needs a vet ASAP. If she does not stop laying, also see a vet.

Sofa Sale: Strathwood Falkner 3 Seater Deep Lounge Sofa

Durable yet surprisingly lightweight, this cast aluminum, 3-person sofa provides relaxing, deep-seated comfort, and it coordinates with the Strathwood Falkner Lounge outdoor furniture collection. Ideal for use in outdoor furniture, cast aluminum is heavier and sturdier than standard aluminum but much lighter than cast iron. It's also quite resistant to chipping, fading, and rusting. It's constructed of wide, thin strips of black, powder-coated aluminum. This sofa is marked by open crisscross designs on each seat back, which have a slight concave curve. The arms slope down and are highlighted by an artful curled end. It measures 76-1/2 inches from arm to arm, 29 inches deep, and the seat back rises to 32 inches high from the ground. This sofa has a total weight capacity of 750 pounds.

It comes with thick, comfortably filled seat and back cushions--each with a center button accent--which are secured to the chair via fabric ties. They feature a durable, heavy polyester canvas cover in a natural tone, and they offer a zippered closure that enables you to remove the polyurethane fill to wash the covers separately. Spot cleaning with mild soap is recommended for best results. No assembly required.
