I would like to install a pond in my garden similar to this one in size. How much would it cost if I buy all the supplies and install the pond myself? Thanks!

By the way, I would not install the lights!
Hi Mrs Ktresaw
Its great that you are thinking of installing a pond, it is well worth the effort.
From that picture it is hard to put a cost on the pond as different people use different things with their ponds. One person might buy a cheap pump and filter where as another person might buy an expensive pump and filter with a skimmer as well.
So my suggestion to you is to first decide the size of pond you would like, the easy way to do this is to lay some rope or something similar out on the ground to the size, and position that you want your pond then measure it. Then you can price up for the pond liner or preformed pond to the size you require, also you can work out the size of the pump and filter you will need etc..
Other things to consider for pricing are plants, waterfall (if you want one), fountain (if you want one) and of course the fish. There are many options you may want to add to your pond that will cost extra.
Check out your local garden center and resources online for inspiration and advice.
I hope this helps.

I run 2 pond pumps and 4 sets of garden lighting through my electricity supply and would like to change this so it runs from solar power panels on top of my garage roof.
Can anyone give me advice on what size panels I need, how many and how i actually install this.
Please help as I would love to cut down my carbon footprint but want to keep my garden looking pretty.
find the total wattage of the pumps, and purchase a solarpanel larger than needed. why would you want to run garden lights during the day? to run at night, would require some deep cycle batteries, and a power converter for 12vdc to 120 voltac.

How to Slow Water Your Plants during a drought | The Gardener#39;s Rake
Setting your garden up for drought conditions can be done by using mulch or planting in containers so that they can be moved into shade or closer to water. You can also landscape your yard and gardens for drought by using perennials, using plants and trees that require less water, or by planting re-seeding annuals, herbs and native plants.
I also water in the morning, use deep watering methods and rain barrels for catching rain. You will find a few more ideas at my sister site Backyard Oasis, How to choose drought resistant plants.
I let my bottles and jugs sit overnight to make sure they are clean.
Use a sharp nail to make a hole or two in the milk jug. You can also use a cordless drill with a tiny bit to make the holes. Just remember the larger the holes are on the bottom the faster your water will run out.
Hint: if you use jugs with holes and without, mark the jug. It’s not fun to fill a jug and have the water run out and into your shoes while placing it in the yard.
