I was wondering if anyone could let me know a few of the BEST sites to order seeds, sets, gardening supplies online? I know if you ask several different people, you'll get several different answers, but what are the few BEST known, reputable and INexpensive places to purchase seeds, sets, or anything for your garden?
I have heard before that there are about 4 or 5 really good places, can anyone relay them to me...or their sites? Thanks SO much in advance!

I am looking for online sources that sell seeds (retail) for domestic garden use .... either an Indian company *or* foreign seed companies that send seeds to India with certificates for customs clearance.
I am looking for both flowers and vegetables, and herbs and fruit seeds ...like strawberries and raspberries.....
It would be nice also to know where to find garden supplies like pots and hoses and hand tools. I know some companies sell such things, but I am not sure which ones sell within India itself.
Do you know any such places?
Thank you in advance for your kindness.

Do a google search for Namdeo Umarshi and Ratanshi Velji they are nurserymen in Mumbai who supply seeds, tools and garden supplies in general. Also try Pocha Seeds of Pune they used to supply by mail some years ago.

I sell seeds online (mostly fruit and vegetables) and people from Canada and the UK are interested in buying from me. I know I have to have permits to ship seeds internationally, but most online garden supply stores offer overseas shipping so it is possible.
I've called the postal service and asked for resources but they weren't sure where to go, and I've also visited the government websites for the countries I want to ship to, but never found any clear answers.
Does anybody know where and how I can get the permits?

I've been thinking seriously for a while now about taking classes, or working toward a degree, in Landscape or Garden Design. I found this one, which suits my budget and current time limitations (just had a baby) but don't want to do it if it'll only get me laughed at when I start looking for work in the field. I'd be happy starting out anywhere from a garden supply store/greenhouse/nursery, or at a landscape design company.
Actually your last statement is what you need to do. Just go get a job at a nursery and go from there. Landscape design is not something you can learn online. Sure the online courses can help but I think it may be a waste of money. If you have a community college near you that would be a much better choice. The art of landscape design cannot be learned in books it must be learned in the field. So get a job first then work with them in the field and the whole time learn about the plants and techniques. Then if you want go to a local community college and take some courses in horticulture or agronomy. Then lastly you may want to read these reports about ashworth. Good luck to you in your future of landscapes.

It costs me alot to go to a grocery store as it is let alone every couple days to keep fresh produce in the house.
Perishables won't do well buying in bulk so what about mailorder? Any suggestions on how to maintain fresh supply of produce when you live way out in the country? I already do gardening but still I am limited to alot of other ffresh things year round.
I used to order some groceries online when I lived in the city but I live in the country now and have the same problems you do. I found these produce storage green bags at Walgreens and they work great. They make all your produce stay fresher and last longer. Check'em out, I think you'll be pleased.

Redenta#39;s organic gardening tips. Shop at the online store. » Blog ...
When I talk to my customers and my employees, I maintain that one of the basic premises of organic gardening is to use no synthetic fertilizers or toxic chemicals. Prepare the garden with organic materials. Soil, in most instances, needs to be well drained. Do not plant too deep. Mulch beds well to retain moisture and prevent weeds. Dig out/ pull weeds when small to prevent problems. Mow lawns frequently, even in winter, to prevent growth and spread of weeds. Fertilize with dry organic fertilizer and foliar feed with liquid seaweed, compost tea and fish emulsion.
I love coming across old quotes that allude to the same teachings.
From writings in the 1800’s -
“And then as to manure, flowers can neither paint their beauty, nor elaborate their fragrance on dead rocks or barren soil. To prevent disappointment, begin the year by enriching the earth”
“deep planting has been a frequent cause of failure”
