Since the city added flouride to our city water supply, my tomato plants and avacado tree are not producing the fruit they have in years past. Same with other people I know in my San Diego community.
I am totally on city water, no cistern available. I was thinking if fluoride can be harmfull to humans, why not plants. San Diego County added fluoride to our water supply. Amount is unknown.
Most plants are okay with fluoride, if you are worried about long term accumulation flushing the soil with a really good watering will reduce the levels back to what is only immediately present in the irrigation water. If you have a cistern you could let the water sit for 24 hours to help remove the much more harmful chlorine found in tap water (fluoride does not evaporate out well).

In other words, if I open the throttle on my spray nozzle from a town water supply of 40psi and I have the nozzle pinched off, what pressure is developed from that nozzle as it is restricted flow through a smaller point?
In general, the pressure would be the same: 40 psi. Hydraulics is a bit puzzling until you get familiar with it. But the pressure will be the same in the entire system, especially if not a lot of water is allowed to flow. But there is a caveat that if you stop the flow of water suddenly, then there is a momentum from the water in the system that creates a brief pulse of higher pressure in the hose. A plastic or rubber hose will expand slightly under this pressure pulse, but then it will force some water back into the main system, and the pressure will equalize to the 'mains' pressure.
Interestingly, water pressure in London is seldom high at all. There are so many leaks in the too-old, and poorly maintained system, that the water company keeps the water pressure at just over 1 bar, just over 14 pounds per square inch, to minimize losses though leaks.

I'm re-doing my fish tank and today while I was at the pet store looking for supplies, I started wondering why I should pay them 5 dollars a pound for fancy rocks when ultimately they all come from the same place.
I have a rock garden outside my house and I was wondering if I soaked them for a few days, would it be safe to put a few of them in my fresh water tank? Or is something special done to them to make them worth so much money at the pet store?
Yes you definitely can.
But before you put them in your tank, make sure to sterilize them of any pathogens. To do this simply get pot of boiling water and boil the rocks in it for about 5 minutes. This will get rid of any unwanted germs that can kill your fish.
We put a new potable water hose on our travel trailers fresh water supply. We have flushed the system several times but still get a foul taste. Water through a regular rubber garden hose from sears tastes better. Can we remedy this or must we replace with another brand?
If you actually purchased a Drinking water (Potable water) hose rated by the USFDA or NSF, it should not be imparting taste.
Have you tasted the water coming out of the source to which the hose is connected?
Is it without the taste to which you refer?
Have you changed gaskets or are you using gaskets that did not come with the Drinking water hose?
If you are getting the taste through the hose, and do not have it at the source, and this existed as soon as you first used the hose, then I reccomend you return it.
You will certainly need a new hose.
