Are there any rechargeable RIDING lawn mowers available anywhere?

So far, all I've seen are these little 15"-20" rechargeable push mowers (the battery-powered ones, not the corded ones), so I was wondering if there are any riding lawn mowers with batteries that can be recharged (I know there are rechargeable forklifts, so I would think there would be a rechargeable riding mower somewhere). If there are any of these, where can I find them and how much do they cost?

In the six years in the OPE (Outdoor Power Equipment) industry, I have yet to see a electric riding mower. I do know that Wheel Horse sold one back in the late 70's But they did not sell well and were hard to maintain. The biggest problem is the cost of the batteries. I hope you can find what you are looking for.

AMP Rider by Ariens, an all-electric riding lawn mower, which delivers as much drive and cutting power as a conventional gas-powered riding mower ...

How do you tell how many amps a riding lawn mower battery is?

Its usually printed on a sticker on the battery. Since lawntractors/lawnmowers see alot more heat then a vehicle ( vehicles are cooled with coolant, lawnmowers are aircooled only) , id suggest a high cold cranking amp (CCA) - the more the better, this makes it slightly more expensive, but itll last longer and start easier - anything over 300 CCA's should work fine.

I put a new battery in my riding lawn mower and it has gas but still wont start. What now???

listen to the sound it makes when you try to start it. if it is a clicking sound, its the battery. if its turning over and not firing, the problem is elsewhere. Try turning on the choke or checking out your starter. hope this helps!

can i use a riding lawn mower battery as a 2nd battery for my car amp if i hook it up like a KINETIK battery?

i added a new amp to my car and now my headlights dim at night but they barely dim i almost cant notice it

you shouldnt mix battery types, especially a car battery and lawn mower battery, both batteries will die VERY quickly and be useless... and if they barly dim and you cant notice it, then whats the point? just dont ride with your system on full boar during the night time, shouldnt at night anyways..

Riding Lawn Mower Battery--is Low!?

Like a dummy I left the Battery in the mower over the winter in the Garage. I tried starting and it cranked ..but worn down. Can I "Jump Start these 12 Volts from my car battery?

As long as the mower battery is 12v then you can use your car battery to jump start the mower. Many chain auto parts stores (Autozone) will test a battery for free. Some will also charge a low battery for free.

Before doing this I would first check the connections on the mower battery. Remove the terminals from the posts and remove any buildup (baking soda and water is an excellent battery acid neutralizer). Clean both the terminals and the studs with a wire brush until they are shiny and then reinstall them. Also if your battery has removable caps then I would check the water level also. This won't help your starting power now but will extend the life of the battery.

Old Kodger Invents Solar Lawn Mower | rumerz.com

LONGMONT — With the gentle push of a lever, the battery-powered motor hums to life, and Tom Lopez begins mowing the grassy strips between his garden plots.

Just as the sun makes the grass — and the garden — grow, it also bakes the solar panels that charge the batteries that power the lawn mower.

“That’s the thing about this stuff — it’s not rocket science,” said Lopez, a 1962 University of Colorado-Boulder graduate with a degree in aerospace engineering. “It just uses standard technology.”

Standard technology mixed with a creative mind can lead to great things, and Lopez is hoping to license his solar-powered farm equipment to another company and see it mass-produced. As soon as he’s ready, that is — and he’s almost ready.

Lopez and his wife, Kristin, live on Lone Hawk Farm west of Hygiene, a 120-acre spread they bought in 1975.

When his wife’s gardening equipment started breaking down years ago, he removed the two-stroke motor in a tiller she was using and replaced it with an electric motor driven by solar-charged batteries.
