I couldn#39;t remember what was wrong with this Craftsman LTV/10 lawn tractor, so I figured I would see if I could get it to start, but quickly ...

I have a 18 HP Briggs and Stratton in it. The manual says 3.5 pints (56oz) with filter. When I do that, it is way over filled even after running some. Anyone have the same experience ? 42 ozs works best for me.

There are a couple of different sizes of Briggs oil filters. Maybe your filter is a smaller size and therefore doesn't hold as much oil. Just a guess. I always judge by the dip stick and not by how many ounces of oil I put in.

You could order from Sears but to be honest, most mowers take a common key. Unless you have a John Deere which you don't. Save some time and money and go to Walmart or K mart, even Home Depot and just buy a standard key in the lawn mower section. I'm 99% sure it'll work for you.

It sparks from the blade drive clutch and the blades won't turn. Any ideas?

Paul is certainly correct... A defective clutch is what you have ...
HOWEVER, a lot depends on how old the unit is... if it is older, my money is on a bad clutch...but, if it is newer, I question if the clutch is the problem,( it is now, of course ) or the symptom of yet another problem with your deck... Make sure your deck is working properly...will the blades spin by hand when disengaged from the engine ??? Sometimes, a spindle bearing will go bad and lock up, rendering the deck inoperable, locked up...and this will either burn up the belt, or destroy the clutch if it is worn... Check your deck, repair it if necessary, then sit down and call a shop for a clutch replacement cost... Hold onto your shorts, it is not pretty ... My advice to you at this point is" buy" from anyone but Sears, they not only inflate their part prices, but their shipping is in orbit...Check a local small engine shop in your area, tell them you want an aftermarket part, they are more reasonable... Tell them there is a lawnmower parts place called "Stens", out of Jasper, In., and they have reasonable parts, they will know exactly to whom I am referring... I have used them for many years, still the best prices around on this kinda stuff... Hope that helps, this has been fun, hope you get everything back online at a minimum of costs !!!

won't start ,got fuel,spark,compression maybe solenoid or ignition any help is appreciated

Try the Foley Bellsaw co.They seem to have most everything along this line of repair manuals.
